How to Maintain Hydration After In Your Hair After Wash-Day

If you have natural hair, then you know that wash day can be a whole movie. But the work doesn't stop once your hair is clean and conditioned. In fact, one of the most important factors keeping your natural hair healthy and hydrated is to infuse it with water on a regular basis throughout the week until your next wash-day comes around.

Here are 5 ways that you can infuse water into your hair during and after-wash day comes around.

1) Ensure that you run A LOT of water on your hair during your wash.

Water is the most important thing in fighting dry hair. It is essential to make sure that you are getting your hair fully saturated with water so that your strand can retain that water after you leave the shower.

2) Use a leave-in conditioner and/or moisturizing styler.

A leave-in conditioner or moisturizing styler is key to maintaining hydration in natural hair. It provides a barrier between your hair and the environment, helps to lock in moisture by creating a cast, and keeps the strands defined to avoid frizz, tangling and breakage at the ends.

3) Re-hydrate your hair with steam from the shower or a steamer.

The steam from your shower or a steamer can help to re-hydrate your hair and open up the cuticle so that your conditioner or product can penetrate the strand and infuse moisture where it is needed. This helps to keep the hair soft and free of dryness throughout the week.

4) Spray warm water on your hair with an atomizer spray bottle.

You can use an atomizer spray bottle to spritz your hair with water (and sometimes a mix of a lightweight product) throughout the day. The atomizer helps to hydrate your hair in smaller particles which allows the product and water to re-enter more easily.

5) Use a humidifier in your home or office.

A humidifier is a great way to infuse moisture into the air around you which will in turn help to re-hydrate your hair throughout the week.
